Gennady Golovkin has responded to a title challenge from Chris Eubank Jr by branding it “cheap” and vowing to focus on his own career.
The Kazakh star has yet to return to the ring since his victory over Kamil Szeremeta and was set to face Ryota Murata in a unification clash reportedly worth £100 million.
However the clash was postponed due to coronavirus restrictions in Japan and Golovkin has been left without an opponent.
Despite a challenge from Eubank Jr, Golovkin has dismissed challenges from a number of middleweight contenders but did admit he “enjoyed” fighting in the UK.
“I have stopped paying attention to people calling me out,” Golovkin said. “It’s the same thing. People claim things, they say that they have certain arrangements. It just looks cheap. It’s not worth my attention at all.

“I remember coming to the UK. I liked that night, I enjoyed it. It was an entertaining fight. I would not limit myself to any individual country.
“It depends on many factors. I’m sure the conditions offered for a fight in the United States or in my home country of Kazakhstan would not be any worse than those offered in the UK. So let’s be realistic.”
Eubank Jr has begun his shot at redemption at middleweight and is eyeing a world title shot if he can progress beyond domestic rival Liam Williams in Cardiff.
Williams could be a live contender having put up a good display against Demetrius Andrade in a world title challenge.
The pair have met in some fiery exchanges during the build-up to their highly anticipated middleweight duel including a confrontation at the open workouts.
During the weigh-in, Williams was vicious and direct during his verbal jabs with Eubank Jr and aimed a “kill” jibe which could see him reprimanded by the British Boxing Board of Control.

Eubank Jr has not entered the ring since his victory over Wanik Awdijan in October and will look to continue his high level of activity after issues with coronavirus.
The British star believes he could become the first man to “stop” Golovkin, and is ready to capitalise on his biggest chance to face the middleweight champion.
“I really and truly believe I would stop him,” Eubank Jr said. “My engine and his fight style? He doesn’t back down and goes to war regardless.
“An immovable force against an unstoppable object. When two warriors collide who put it all on the line, it would be an amazing fight. I don’t believe he could out-punch or out-perform me.
“I’ve had that mindset for years now. I have the perfect style to stop Golovkin even though it’s never been done before. The fight already entices them, they’ve been in contact with us,
I have the perfect style to stop Golovkin even though it’s never been done before.”
