George Kambosos Jr has teased a possible move to the UFC after his stunning lightweight world title win over Teofimo Lopez.
The Australian shocked the boxing world when he won the unified 135lb titles from Lopez in New York on Saturday night, and is now considering a future move to MMA.
Fellow Aussie fighter Alexander Volkanovski is the featherweight champion in the UFC, and the pair have shown support to one another in the past.
And he has promised to help Volkanovski with his striking, in return hoping to learn the ropes about grappling from his countryman as he eyes up a potential move to another sport.
“I’m a very big fan of the UFC,” Kambosos said during an appearance on The MMA Hour. “I love the sport, I love combat sports in general and me and Alex [Volkanovski] have a good relationship as well.
“He’s been supporting me, I’ve been supporting him and I’ve said I’m going to come back with all these belts.

“He’s the UFC featherweight king, and I’m the lightweight king and we’re going to help each other.”
Kambosos believes that learning grappling from an elite level UFC fighter like Volkanovski will help him to improve his boxing skills in the clinch.
And he thinks that he can help his fellow ex-rugby league player to become a clinical striker, in an effort to keep Australia at the top of the combat sports world.
“How good would it be for me to sharpen up his striking for him and him to help me with my grappling for my inside game?” Kambosos continued.
“When I do get in the clinches I want to be able to use my weight and get a bit sharper on that side of the game, it’s a good thing.
“We’re both proud and we both got to the top of our sport and we’re both Greek as well, so there’s a lot of similarities.”
And that training with Volkanovski could see Kambosos eventually make the switch to MMA, after he attempts to get a fight with Devin Haney for the undisputed title at lightweight in his own sport.

Kambosos holds the WBC “franchise” title, which is not an official world championship, while Haney is the legitimate world champion, meaning the pair would need to fight to crown an undisputed champion.
“We’re going to organise a training session when I get back and do a few things together,” Kambosos explained.
“We’re going to sharpen up his hands, which are super sharp already but a little more always helps, and he’s going to sharpen up my inside game.
“Who knows, you might see me make my UFC debut in the future and he might end up in the boxing world soon, you never know!
“Maybe down the line, we’ll see.”
Haney will defend his WBC belt against Joseph Diaz on Saturday night in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and should he get through that bout successfuly, promoter Eddie Hearn has indicated that the Kambosos fight could be next for him.
