Chasing 182, Phil Salt scored 87 runs off just 45 balls to ease the run chase. DC reached the target with 20 balls to spare and completed an emphatic victory by 7 wickets as they moved up a place from the root of the IPL table.

And in the post-match press conference, Salt confirmed the mindset they had incorporated before the game.
“I am very satisfied with the knock. Obviously, there was a little bit of a needle. Them (RCB) boys were up when we were in Bangalore in the last game. A lot of our pre-match talk was getting our chest out and crossing the line and really taking it to them, which I felt we did really well,” Salt said after the match.
The 26-year-old also said he believed the wicket will slow down at the Kotla, which may, in turn, make batting in the middle overs difficult.
“We knew the wicket is a little slow and low as we knew we would realistically slow down in the middle. I thought it was par. I thought we would have to bat really well to go there but the boys came out swinging and we got it done,” he added.

Along with Salt, Mitchell Marsh (26 off 17 balls) and Rilee Rossouw (35 off 22 balls) also played a decent hand in the chase.
DC registered their fourth victory out of the last five matches and still have every chance to qualify for the playoffs. They will be up against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday (May 10) in their next match.
Salt, who was roped in by the Capitals ahead of this season, has been an integral part of their recent success in the tournament. The Englishman has scored 151 runs so far in 5 innings, at a superb strike rate of 177.6, which includes two fifties.
