Jacob Bayla and Kristian Porter each added 10 points for Gilas, which plays Japan later at 8:45 p.m. Both the Philippines and Japan are 1-0 in Group C.
Gilas’ defense was also on cue with 17 steals while also forcing 29 turnovers that led to 28 points.
