GLAMOUR Tries: We tried the one-second eyeliner hack for our Christmas Day makeup

And this week, Commerce Editor Sophie Cockett is trying the one-second eyeliner hack that’s going viral on TikTok as part of her festive Christmas Day makeup. For it to succeed, you basically need to take a deep breath and brave it by quickly flicking your chosen eyeliner on the outer corner of your eye (rather than taking the usual 10 minutes to slowly line it all up).

Sophie does her usual makeup routine, adding a festive lip and some sparkly eyeshadow before beginning the ‘hack’.

“I don’t have very high hopes because I’m not very good at eyeliner,” she says. “Essentially I just…do that.” She makes a flicking motion with her wrist. 

“The girls on TikTok have made it look really easy and I just do not trust my abilities, but let’s see.” Sophie does as instructed and quickly draws a line from her outer corner upwards.

“Oh my God,” she says. She repeats the motion on the other side before giving her final thoughts: “It was really that easy all along. There we have it! This eyeliner hack is incredible. Maybe not one second because I did end up joining the flick to my lash line, so, you know, that adds another two seconds on. But it’s absolutely genius and I’m going to be doing my eyeliner like that forever more.”
