There’s no better pastime than testing out the coolest new skincare/makeup/hair trends and snazzy innovations in beauty tech from the comfort of your own home. That said, there’s nothing more frustrating than spending upwards of £100 on a new at-home facial system or snazzy pair of hair straighteners, only to find out they don’t *actually* work.
Enter: GLAMOUR Tries, the weekly Instagram series which sees GLAMOUR editors do all of the time-consuming (and expensive) work for you.
Yep, we’ve been busy trying out all of the wacky and wonderful beauty crazes to take the internet (read: TikTok) by storm – from the YSL lipstick printer to Il Makiage’s iconic foundation and even the viral Hair Bedazzler tool from Amazon. These are the products every influencer/Gen-Z beauty sleuth/beauty editor is talking about on the internet – but that you want to be sure about before parting with your money.
Thanks to GLAMOUR Tries, you won’t need to waste your hard-earned pennies on testing these innovations yourself. We’re getting in their first, giving you the lowdown and making sure you invest in products that genuinely work.
And this week, our Social Media Manager Luca Wetherby-Matthews got her hands on the LullaBellz Click & Twist Essentials Set, a multi-tasking hair tool with 9 attachments that can be swapped with a simple click and twist (hence the name). The device can heat up to 220°C in just 60 seconds and can also be used on synthetic hair to style your wigs and hair extensions with a temperature of 180°C. For £175, you’ll get the base tool, a protective glove, a satin storage bag, a heat-resistant mat, four different curl wands, a hot brush attachment, three different waver attachments, a straightener attachment and even a travel bag with a hanger – perfect to pack for your upcoming summer holiday.
“When it’s hot I cannot stand my hair being down so today I want to try a claw clip, curly, loose kind of hairstyle,” Luca shares as she’s about to start using the tool. “I’m going to try a couple of different variations and see what kind of effect we can create,” she adds.
The next clip skips to Luca having her hair up, while her face-framing bangs and a few other surrounding curls are loose. She then proceeds to demonstrate how simple it is to change up the attachments as she opts for one of the curling wands.
Next, Luca applies a heat protecting spray to shield her hair from potentially getting damaged and puts on the included protective glove, after which she proceeds to curl her hair.
“I feel like that was pretty easy for a curling novice like me,” she notes.
She then decides to swap her attachment for a slightly thicker curling wand, with the help of which she curls the hair bits in the back that are sticking out of her claw clip.
“We’re done and I love it! It was very easy to do despite me never having used a curling wand in my life before. And it’s £175…which I think is unreal,” she concludes.
