You’re invited to put the pieces together with the new poster for the upcoming murder mystery sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Released courtesy of the official Twitter account for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, the poster finds Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, who stands poolside and looks over his new set of suspects.
Following the introduction to the brilliant Detective Benoit Blanc in 2019’s Knives Out, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery finds the investigator once again called in to solve another mysterious murder. Tech billionaire Miles Bron invites his friends for a getaway on his private Greek island. But when someone turns up dead, Detective Benoit Blanc is put on the case. A newly released trailer has offered even more clues…
Alongside Daniel Craig, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery stars Academy Award nominee Edward Norton as Miles Bron, a tech billionaire who invites his closest friends to his scenic private island in Greece for a “murder-mystery game that gets a little too real.”
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has amassed a star-studded supporting cast similarly to its predecessor, with the sequel set to feature Leslie Odom Jr. as Lionel Toussaint, a scientist who works for Miles and has a complicated relationship with the tech mogul; Janelle Monáe as Cassandra “Andi” Brand, a tech entrepreneur; Kathryn Hahn as Claire Debella, a Connecticut governor running for Senate; Kate Hudson as Birdie Jay, a fashion designer; Jessica Henwick as Peg, Birdie’s assistant; Dave Bautista as Duke Cody, a YouTube star; Madelyn Cline as Whiskey, Duke’s younger girlfriend and channel assistant; and finally Ethan Hawke, whose role in proceedings currently remains a secret.
Daniel Craig Thinks Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is Better Than the First Outing
Knives Out received critical acclaim upon release back in 2019, but returning star Daniel Craig thinks Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will be even better than its predecessor. “I’m so lucky to have Rian in my life. He’s such a great writer,” Craig said of returning to the role of Benoit Blanc. “That script arrived and I was literally like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ I couldn’t believe that he wanted me to play it. I was going, ‘It says Southern accent you went here. Really?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah?’ We’ve just finished the second one, literally weeks ago. They’ve just wrapped up in Serbia. Dare I say it’s better? We’ll see. I don’t want to tempt fate. It’s different, and that’s the amazing thing. It’s still a Benoit Blanc mystery, but it’s very different. I’m very excited about it.”
Craig isn’t the only one with faith in the sequel, as star Dave Bautista also feels that Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has what it takes to best what came before. “I really think it’s going to be as good, if not better, than the first one. I’m always afraid to say that because I don’t want anybody to get offended saying that we’re going to be better, but I really do think this,” the actor said.
Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is due to have its world premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2022. The whodunit sequel will then be released in select cinemas in November 2022, before landing on Netflix on December 23, 2022.
