Last week, the Carlyle Group joined Elliot Investment Management, Ares Management Corporation and Sixth Street Partners as public suitors for a minority stake.
If Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe’s third bids don’t meet the lofty valuation, the Glazers will likely press forward with a potential new partner.
The process started last November when they announced they were considering ‘all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions’.
But parties within the sale have always held reservations over whether the Glazers actually intend to sell.
