Miss Italy has banned transgender women from competing in their pageant.

According to Miss Italy patron Patrizia Mirigliani, contestants must be a “woman from birth” if they want to take part in the country’s pageant and the competition “will not jump on the glittery bandwagon of trans activism.”

Mirigliani added it was a “little absurd” that beauty pageants were trying to attract attention by including transgender women in the competition.
“Since it was born, my competition has foreseen in its regulation the clarification according to which one must be a woman from birth,” she told Radio Cusano, the Daily Mail reported.
“Probably because, even then, it was foreseen that beauty could undergo modifications, or that women could undergo modifications, or that men could become women,” she continued.
