Kate Garraway is reportedly set to be awarded in the New Year’s Honours list following an incredibly difficult year.
The Good Morning Britain presenter has been praised for her resilience over the way she’s dealt with her husband Derek Draper’s devastating battle with coronavirus.
Derek spent much of the year in hospital after the disease ravaged his body, and he’s still not fully recovered although he is now at home where Kate, 54, can care for him.
The former I’m A Celebrity star raised awareness about long Covid by sharing her family’s story in heartbreaking documentary Finding Derek, which saw her win a National Television Award.

And now, it’s reported that she’ll be honoured by the Queen.
A source told The Sun : “Kate has bravely shared her family’s struggle with the devastating effects of Covid, helping to educate and raise awareness.
“She’s spent over 30 years on the frontline of broadcasting and shown true dedication and survival in a tough industry.

“I’m sure she will feel truly humbled, thrilled and surprised to be chosen. This would be the ultimate accolade.”
A source close to the humble star said she’ll be “thrilled and surprised” to receive the honour.
Kate, who shared kids Darcey, 15, and Billy, 12, with Derek, recently opened up about what she’s been through on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.
She fought back tears as she told the host that she’ll never give up on her husband.

She said: “I’m not giving up on him – ever.
“He will have moments of clarity and then it’s like he disappears again.”
Kate said the virus had “devastated” Derek from the “tip of his head to the top of his toe”, explaining that his liver, digestive system, heart and nervous system had all been affected.

“We’re pretty sure the inflammation did pass through the brain. He still can’t communicate,” she said.
“Fundamentally he’s in a terrible state.”
Derek, also 54, was diagnosed with the virus in March 2020 – and put into an induced coma by doctors in a bid to protect his organs.
He returned home earlier this year, but still requires round the clock care from medical staff.
Kate, who is now taking over the reigns on Life Stories from Piers Morgan, is planning to make a follow up documentary to show people how serious Covid is and the long term effects it can have.
