God Of War Ragnarok Release Pushed To November 2022

Late last year, a PlayStation Database entry listed God of War Ragnarok as having a release date of 30 September 2022. At the time, it was likely that the date was simply a placeholder. Whether or not that’s the case, it looks like Sony Interactive Entertainment has internally pushed the game further back.

Sources to Bloomberg claim that the publisher now has plans to release God of War Ragnarok in November of this year. While a delay nevertheless, at least with the assumption that the previous date was accurate, it’s only a small one of two months.

A report by Game Reactor prior to this one cites European sources that claim that God of War Ragnarok has been pushed all the way back to 2023. Which, in all fairness, is more in line with the other video game delay reports which we’ve seen recently. The fact that the game did not make an appearance during the State of Play broadcast, as well as the more recent Summer Game Fest, probably also caused some worry among fans.

November is a pretty common window for game publishers to be releasing new titles. Coinciding with the year end holidays, it’s also usually when the biggest games of every console generation gets released. Releasing God of War Ragnarok within this time frame makes sense. After all, it is assumed to be as big a hit, if not bigger, than the first title. All that being said, there are still five long months between now and November, and any number of things can change in the meantime.

At any rate, the Bloomberg report also notes that SIE may be announcing the official release date for God of War Ragnarok later this month. The game is expected to come to both of the current generations of the PlayStation consoles.
