Good Omens Season 2 will arrive on Prime Video at the end of the month, and following last month’s trailer, a new poster has been released bringing a very classical look to the return of David Tennant and Michael Sheen as Crowley and Aziraphale. The newest poster also hints at the many converging storylines that the pair will be getting themselves embroiled in during the new season of the comical fantasy, written by Neil Gaiman and John Finnemore.
The first trailer for the second season of hit Prime Video series Good Omens was released last month, and brings back the holy/unholy duo of Michael Sheen’s angel Aziraphale and David Tennant’s demon Crowley, with the pair once again tasked with saving, well, everything. Released courtesy of Prime Video, Good Omens season two is due to land on the streaming platform next month. Check out the first trailer for Good Omens season two below.
Based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel, the first series of Good Omens introduced audiences to Michael Sheen and David Tennant as Aziraphale and Crowley, an angel and a demon, who over 6000-years have formed a bond that transcends their respective sides in the holy war. Picking up in 2018, the long-time angel and demon acquaintances have grown accustomed to life on Earth as representatives of Heaven and Hell but must seek to prevent the coming of the Antichrist and thus Armageddon, in the final battle between Heaven and Hell.
Good Omens season two will go beyond the original source material to illuminate the uncanny friendship between Aziraphale, a fussy angel and rare book dealer, and the fast-living demon Crowley. Having been on Earth since The Beginning, and with the Apocalypse thwarted, Aziraphale and Crowley are getting back to easy living among mortals in London’s Soho when an unexpected messenger presents a surprising mystery.
Once again led by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, Good Omens season two will also see the return of Jon Hamm as archangel Gabriel, Doon Mackichan as archangel Michael, and Gloria Obianyo as archangel Uriel. Returning this season in new roles are Miranda Richardson as demon Shax, Maggie Service as Maggie, and Nina Sosanya as Nina, with new faces joining the misfits in Heaven and Hell: Liz Carr as angel Saraqael, Quelin Sepulveda as angel Muriel, and Shelley Conn as demon Beelzebub.
Good Omens Was Originally Intended as a Limited Series
Good Omens was originally intended as a limited series, but due to the global success and enthusiastic response to the first outing, Aziraphale and Crowley are back, with co-creator Neil Gaiman (The Sandman) going it alone to once again delight audiences with a story of Heaven, Hell, and everything in between.
“It’s 31 years since Good Omens was published, which means it’s 32 years since Terry Pratchett and I lay in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention, and plotted the sequel,” Gaiman said of Good Omens season two in a statement. “I got to use bits of the sequel in Good Omens – that’s where our angels came from. Terry’s not here any longer, but when he was, we had talked about what we wanted to do with Good Omens, and where the story went next. And now, thanks to BBC Studios and [Prime], I get to take it there. I have enlisted some wonderful collaborators, and John Finnemore has come on board to carry the torch with me. There are so many questions people have asked about what happened next (and also, what happened before) to our favorite Angel and Demon.”
Good Omens season two will consist of six episodes and will debut exclusively on Prime Video on July 28.
