Gordon Ramsay has spoken out in defence of Brooklyn Beckham after his latest career move into the kitchen was met with mockery.

The 23-year-old has posted videos of himself cooking online for a while now, some of which have created quite the hoo-ha.

In his most recent video, Brooklyn demonstrated to followers how to cook a huge joint of beef in an impressive amount of butter, the result of which many people called undercooked and raw.

Brooklyn described the meal as ‘a Sunday roast, but we’re making it Michelin’ while one follower jibed, ‘So, in conclusion: butter.’

The youngster’s antics in the kitchen faced criticism last year when the New York Post reported that one eight-minute episode of his cooking show, Cookin’ With Brooklyn, apparently warranted $100,000 (£74,000) and a 62-person crew to make.

The result? A sandwich.

Outside of that expensive blip, Brooklyn’s Instagram tutorials do venture beyond the humble sarnie into slightly finer foods.

One tuna steak recipe was praised by tennis superstar Serena Williams when she commented, ‘Can I come over?’

So the reviews aren’t all bad, and while we can’t taste Brooklyn’s creations to fact check, family friend Gordon Ramsay – a real chef – has got his back.

In an interview with the Mail Online, the celebrity chef, 58, said: ‘Brooklyn has grown up with my kids and is the son of dear friends of ours. I haven’t seen the video of his supposedly “raw” beef.

‘But even as a 12-year-old, whilst playing football, Brooklyn was always excited about food. So I’m pleased that he’s gone down that road and he’s found something he really enjoys doing.’

Defending ‘nepo baby’ Brooklyn, the Next Level Chef star thinks we should all cut him some slack (and another slice of beef), and said it’s ‘hard’ to be the child of a celebrity.

‘He didn’t ask for that level of intrusion from having famous parents,’ he said.

‘It probably came off a certain way, but it’s not his fault. So I have no issues against it. I’m excited. We have another chef joining the mix.’

While Brooklyn has no professional training as a chef, perhaps knight-in-shining-butter Gordon can change that.
