Grammy Awards 2023: When Cardi B wore a vintage Mugler gown to the red carpet

Grammy Awards 2023: The most-awaited time of the year is here. Grammy Awards is back for the 65th edition. It is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on February 5. Recognising the best of recordings, and talents from October 2021 to September 2023, Grammy Awards is also known for the stunning red-carpet looks of celebrities from across the world. This year, Trevor Noah will reprise his role as the host of the awards ceremony, after hosting Grammy for the 63rd and the 64th edition as well. Coming back to the red carpet looks, Grammy Awards is considered one of the ravishing red carpets by people across the world.

Celebrities from all over pose in their best attires and fashion statements. While some of the looks go on to become written in history and become everyone’s favourite, some looks are also hit-and-miss. Some celebrities also leave their fans confused with their looks. One such look was that of Cardi B from 2019 Grammy Awards. The hip-hop star decked up in a clam-inspired gown for the Grammy’s red carpet, leaving the fans confused about her attire. However, there is a back story to the same. The vintage dress is from French fashion designer Thierry Mugler’s fall-winter 1995 haute couture collection and was supposed to make headlines for the right reasons, which it did.

The ensemble featured a nude bodycon top embellished in pearls at the closed neckline. The gown further cascaded to a black skirt with a minimal train. The skirt featured a ruffled clam-inspired look, giving away the impression of a pearl emerging out of a shell. The elaborate ensemble was accessorised with 28-karat diamond earrings by Gismondi1754 and a pearl string neck choker.

Cardi B’s hairdo also stole the limelight. She decked up in a top bun decorated in strings of pearls. In pink gloves, the hip-hop star posed at the red-carpet and soon became the talk of the awards ceremony. In pink eyeshadow, black winged eyeliner, black kohl, mascara-laden eyelashes, drawn eyebrows, contoured cheeks and a shade of nude lipstick, Cardi B completed her look.
