Perth’s most famous socialite and the king of western suburbs real estate are selling their opulent Georgian mansion in Nedlands.
Rose Porteous and her real estate husband William listed their luxury home at 138 Dalkeith Road on Saturday and are inviting offers around $5.75 million.
Mrs Porteous was the third wife of late mining magnate Lang Hancock — the father of Gina Rinehart — and once the richest woman in Australia.
She rose to further national attention after a series of lawsuits filed by her stepdaughter and became a fashion icon and a fixture of Perth’s high society.
She married Mr Porteous, who has sold some of the most expensive and prestigious properties in the State, in 1992.
The mansion, which is just a stone’s throw away from the suburb of Dalkeith, was briefly listed for sale in 2017 and later in 2018 when it was officially owned by Mrs Porteous’ daughter Joanna Lacson-Fox.
Mr and Mrs Porteous have owned the property since 2019. The Dalkeith Road mansion has been advertised as a “residence of exceptional stature”.
The mansion features a “grand entry hall”, high ceilings, a marble fireplace and a magnificent staircase.
It reportedly features a kitchen replete with a “miracle of gleaming surfaces, lacquered cupboards, hidden storage and a white Lacanche cooker imported from France”.
Those not wanting to take the central staircase between the two floors can instead use the “whisper-quiet elevator”.
