Ring, ring, ring! I look at my cell phone and it comes up as Rolls Royce. Clearly it has a showstopper arriving in Grasso’s Garage this week. The 2022 Rolls Royce Black Badge Cullinan is the most exclusive SUV on the market today. Known for its grandish style and superiority, the Cullinan SUV boasts numerous unfathomable items such as a great ride, an unbelievable interior and exterior color options while not limiting the personalization of various items.
Riding on 22-inch part-polished wheels and at over 2.7 tons in weight, the Cullinan has Rolls Royce written all over it. The historic front square-shaped grille, square headlights and suicide doors make this SUV amazing. While riding on airbags with multiple ride-height options, the automatic electronic doors close at the push of a button, while the soft close feature is something similar to your kitchen cabinets to avoid the slam. The electronically retracted Spirit of Ecstasy grill ornament leads the way on the front and in typical black badge fashion.
Powering our elegant Deadly Nightshade Purple Cullinan tester was a 6.5-liter, V12 engine, producing 592 horsepower and 664 lb.-ft. of torque. Our zero-to-60 test time came in at just under 5 seconds. The eight-speed automatic transmission was quiet and effortless in the Cullinan Black Badge as well.
The interior was plush and amazing. Coming in with purple accents similar to its exterior, the Cullinan offered old style shag carpets, interior shooting star headliner and amazingly comfortable seating. Rear picnic tables with tablet style screens were also available for rear seat controls.
For BMW’s upscale brand, Rolls Royce Motor Car, the Cullinan is clearly its vehicle of choice for its younger clientele. Although it checks all of the boxes as a vehicle to drive, it also is a great option to be driven in. For this upscale market and exclusivity, nothing else comes to mind that I would rather drive or be driven in. One day maybe if the lottery is good to me, that is.
