Grasso’s Garage: Honda Passport is simply … perfect

For self-actualization and reality, there are a select few vehicles that make sense in the consumer market today. Although our wants and needs normally don’t align, this week in Grasso’s Garage, we see a marriage of wants and needs making this the perfect all-around vehicle.

Yes, you already guessed it, the Honda’s 2022 Passport Trailsport.

This vehicle is absolutely perfect. It literally checks all boxes in today’s consumer needs and wants list. As previously reviewed in 2020, the Passport is a cross between the Honda Pilot, which offers a seven-seat option, while the Passport gives you the same platform, yet with a five-seat option and storage space that is so huge. Based on the same platform as the Ridgeline as well, the Passport, is a storage lover’s dream.

Riding so smoothly and powered by the famous 3.5-liter VTEC V6 engine, the Passport is powerful, brawny and hip. Offering 280 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque, the Passport has no problem doing its job and getting up to speed. Our all-wheel-drive Trailsport tester was wrapped in Sonic Gray and came with Trailsport-embossed black leather seats with orange offsets.

Filled with an array of safety features, more than I can even list, the Passport has the ride height of an SUV, while sitting low in the seat offering a tremendous amount of headroom and legroom combined. The interior boasts navigation, SiriusXM, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the push button start and push button transmission are positioned perfectly. The Trailsport brings out the best in off-road for the Passport. Although traditionally a family vehicle, the Trailsport allows you to bring the family along for an off-road adventure when needed. It rides on Firestone Destination all-terrain tires allowing for that extra grip in the muddy terrain.

I get communication from my readers all the time asking the same old question. “What vehicle would you recommend?” The question is the easiest one ever; it’s the Honda Passport every time. Its ability to fulfill every want and need in one vehicle while being priced correctly, having nicely designed aesthetically, sits and rides great is not an easy task, but for Honda, simply perfection.
