Greenwood Village’s Cherry Crest Seafood Restaurant & Market has closed

After 37 years of fresh fish and seafood, Cherry Crest Seafood Restaurant & Market in Greenwood Village was put on ice last month.

The family-owned restaurant and market, located at 5909 S. University Blvd., permanently closed its doors on Dec. 3. Owners Karen and Larry Bachel announced on Facebook that they were retiring. Karen had worked at the restaurant for more than 15 years before the couple purchased it from longtime owner Mike Brooks in 2014.

Cherry Crest has been a staple in Greenwood Village since 1985, shipping fresh catches of fish in daily and offering a full service seafood market for customers creating their own seafood masterpieces.

“…This is a bittersweet time for us collectively, and a decision that didn’t come lightly,” the Facebook announcement reads. “Know that your business, smiling faces, friendships and support have been things that our entire staff values and will continue to cherish. As we embark on this new chapter of retirement, we just want you to know how thankful we are for you.”

To give back to its customers and the community, Cherry Crest is selling a cookbook with some of its most sought-after recipes on its website, and in turn, all of the proceeds go to the nonprofit No Kid Hungry.
