Ja Morant may be suspended for the first 25 games of the NBA season, but he’s excited about one of the Grizzlies’ newest additions to the roster.
The Grizzlies signed former MVP Derrick Rose in free agency, bringing in a player with ties to the city after attending college at Memphis.
Rose is also one of the players that Morant has been compared to, as Rose had a similar play style to Morant in his prime.
Former NBA point guard Isaiah Thomas broke down what he thought Rose would be able to add to the team and to Morant’s game – and Morant agreed.

“Watch what type of season Ja has next year with D rose connected to his hip all year long,” Thomas said. “Once he gets off suspension he will have his best season yet.”
Thomas also added that he believed Morant could play at an MVP level, something he has been close to over the last two seasons.
If not for his off court issues, Morant likely would have been named to the All-NBA team for the second season in a row.
Morant responded to Thomas’ prediction by saying “you too loud OG . they gon feel me fasho,” issuing a warning to the league that he’s going to go back to that level – or even better – once he returns.
If that’s true, it’s definitely a frightening thought for opposing defenses around the NBA.
