Groves and Froch not seeing eye to eye on Fury vs Usyk fight

Former rivals George Groves and Carl Froch can’t agree on who is going to win the upcoming undisputed heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. Froch believes Fury is too big for Usyk while Groves favours Usyk’s skill set.

Groves and Froch treated fans to two incredibly exciting bouts in 2013 and 2014, both of which were won by Froch via stoppage. Spectators were captivated by both men’s keen dislike of each other and their differences of opinions.

Although their relationship is far more cordial these days, they still don’t see eye to eye on everything – notably the four-belt shoot-out.

“Tyson Fury is absolutely the best heavyweight in the world right now. Whoever you think is number 2, would not even come close to beating him,” Wrote Froch on social media.

“But, when it comes to ability, Usyk’s the best heavyweight in the world by a country mile, in my opinion. I don’t know. I’ll just go Usyk cause I’m an Usyk fanboy.”

Usyk vs Fury will make history as the first undisputed heavyweight unification clash of the four-belt era provided it gets over the line. Fury puts up his WBC title against Usyk’s WBA (super), WBO, and IBF belts with the added incentive of the lineal and Ring Magazine crowns thrown into the mix as well.

The contest is being targeted for a date between February 18 and March 4 with the Middle East being the most likely location for the historic encounter.

According to Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum, they are in talks with three Middle Eastern countries about the possibility of playing host to the fight. Meanwhile, Wembley Stadium in London and Cardiff’s Principality Stadium are being touted as potential backup venues if the contest can’t be made overseas.

Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk has set a deadline of March 4 for the fight to be made on otherwise the Ukrainian will walk away from the deal.
