Guests pack onto trains for exclusive Le Dîner en Blanc

Northbridge transformed into a sea of white on Saturday afternoon as Le Dîner en Blanc revealed the secret location to be Russell Square, in the heart of Perth City.

More than 1500 guests in attendance adhered to the notoriously strict all-white dress code as they took part in the event that has become a global phenomenon in recent years.

The elegant dinner party kicked off at 4pm, just one hour after guests were informed of the location, with live electric strings and French piano accordion welcoming attendees in the heart of Perth city.

Arriving with their own gourmet picnic, fine china and silverware, white table settings, white tables and chairs, guests quickly set-up their impressive table decorations before the official dinner began with the traditional ‘napkin wave’.

Notable guests in attendance included Channel Seven’s Matt Tinney and Alexander Circosta, Perth Wildcats basketball player Mitch Norton and his partner Sascha Norton, West Coast Fever netball players Rudi Ellis and Kim Jenner, as well as an array of Perth influencers.

“Once again the people of Perth have embraced the secret of Le Dîner en Blanc! We were delighted to reveal this year’s iconic location to not only our guests; but to all the spectators and passers-by that experienced the wow-factor of our pop-up picnic,” event host Caroline James said.

“To ‘glam up’ in white and attend a dinner à la française where conversation and champagne are essential, has become a treasured ritual for thousands of West Australians.”

The world’s largest pop-up picnic originated in Paris in 1988 by François Pasquier, and has grown to become an internationally touring event hosted in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Sydney, Buenos Aires, Johannesburg and Sydney.
