Arsenal are not mentioned but are widely reported to be interested in signing him. Paris Saint-Germain are also in the race having allowed Lionel Messi to leave at the end of his contract.
Gundogan confirmed after Saturday’s match that he is yet to make a decision on where he will be playing next season. He has made 304 appearances for City since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2016, scoring 60 goals.
Arsenal academy boss and ex-Germany international Per Mertesacker stoked speculation over a potential move to the Gunners. He claimed Arteta is in contact with Gundogan and says Arsenal are well placed to sign him.
Mertesacker told ZDF: “I think the clubs are queuing. Because Arteta knows him and we probably haven’t broken off contact, we’re in a good position. I think he’ll let it all sink in first and then choose from one of the four clubs.”
