Srinagar, June 5: The first batch consisting of 145 Kashmiri pilgrims left for Madina to perform the annual Hajj pilgrimage, informed the officials on Sunday. The first batch of Madina-bound pilgrims after bidding farewell to relatives and friends boarded the luxurious buses for Srinagar from Hajj House Bemina in the early morning hours of June 5. The devotees will board a Delhi flight from Srinagar and will proceed further.

“A total of 145 pilgrims will depart in the first batch. These batches of 145 each will continue for the next two days. The number will double from the third day wherein 290 pilgrims will depart,” said Executive Officer Haj Committee, Abul Salam. Earlier, an orientation-cum-training program was organized by authorities of Hajj house Srinagar in various districts of the Kashmir Valley on May 21. These orientation training programs were conducted to spread awareness and provide information about performing Hajj. The authorities distributed special pamphlets and various experts delivered brief lectures to help the devotees.
