Halloween Playlist: All the Spooky Scary Songs to Listen to on October 31

0

This is Halloween, everybody scream! Or listen to a spooky song. While October 31 may be about costumes and candy for some people, others are all about the scariest songs to play all night long.

When we talk about Halloween songs, it’s important to mention quite possibly the most famous tune. In Hocus Pocus, Bette Midler‘s Winifred Sanderson sang “I Put a Spell on You,” which has since been covered by tons of other stars. However, in September 2022, she sent fans into a tizzy after an Instagram caption made them think they were singing the wrong lyrics.

“Hello sailors. My name’s Winifred, what’s yours?” she captioned an Instagram post, which has since been edited. After the comments section exploded with confused fans, the legendary star set the record straight. “Autocorrect — don’t mess with this witch!” she wrote, correcting “sailors” to “Salem,” as in Massachusetts.

“Salem, not sailors!” Bette confirmed to E! News later that same month. “Why would I say ‘Hello, sailors’? No, no, it’s Salem — ‘Hello, Salem.’”

Thankfully, that’s been settled!

When celebrating the Hocus Pocus 25th anniversary bash in 2018, Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson and Jordin Sparks teamed up for a stunning cover of the song. “Just a bunch of hocus pocus,” Sofia captioned an Instagram post at the time.

Another iconic Halloween movie with tons of music is The Nightmare Before Christmas, which actually covers two holidays.

In October 2021, Billie Eilish actually brought the animated movie to life on stage when performing as Sally at the Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium. At the time, the “Happier Than Ever” songstress covered “Sally’s Song” and “Simply Meant to Be.”

“Peeing my pants I’m so excited,” Billie shared via Instagram at the time.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween if we didn’t mention Descendants. From 2015 to 2019, and even know, kids love dressing up as Mal and Evie from the Disney Channel franchise. While it’s not exactly a spooky movie, some of the songs from the Villain Kids are perfect for the month of haunts. Yes, that does mean we are listening to “Rotten to the Core” on repeat.
