LOS GATOS — Los Gatos High School was hit by several vandals on Halloween night.
One group egged almost every building on campus, while another group smashed a 529-pound pumpkin grown by a student that was displayed next to the High School Court entrance.
More vandals spray-painted multiple racist and homophobic slurs on the walls and windows of classrooms and buildings, some of which targeted specific teachers.
The Los Gatos High staff is asking anyone with information about the vandalism to come forward.
In an email message and a YouTube video to the Los Gatos High community, principal Kevin Buchanan said the vandals can be seen on surveillance footage recording their actions with their smart phones. While this footage has been shared with police, the culprits hadn’t been identified as of press time as they all wore masks and hoodies.
“We assume that there are other students who know who committed these harmful acts and may have seen social media posts on Snapchat or TikTok yet are remaining silent,” said the principal. “I implore you to help us address this conduct by speaking with your children and encouraging them to come forward if they know anything, even anonymously, to help us hold those responsible accountable.”
To contact Buchanan with a tip, email [email protected] or call 408-354-2730, ext. 212. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call WeTip at 844-408-1333.
