Strawberries are delicious when they’re ripe and juicy, but they can very quickly go mouldy and turn to mush. Kristin Marr from Live Simply told viewers how they can keep their strawberries fresh for longer.
Strawberries are a popular household staple but often end up being chucked away.
We typically buy them in packets and often fail to to get through the whole tub before they start spoiling.
When stored in the fridge they can typically last between five to seven days.
However, Live Simply has shared one very simple way you can store your strawberries for optimal preservation.

This is a great money-saver as you won’t have to keep throwing away your strawberries only to replace them and repeat the cycle.
She stated: “Just like with leafy greens, within a few days they can begin to grow mould and go bad.
“This means that the berries you bought for breakfast to last the entire week, well, they may be thrown out in just a couple of days. But it doesn’t have to be that way.”
The expert recommended washing your fruit in advance before eating it – but not just with water.
DON’T MISS…
If you want to remove the stems of the strawberries before placing them in the container that is fine, however she advised against cutting the strawberries into chunks ahead of eating them. Finally, place the lid onto the container and store it in the fresh.
She found that this method keeps her strawberries fresh for a week if not more.
Strawberry lovers praised Live Simply’s tip for preserving strawberries. @patriciascott4211 stated: “So helpful. I work seven day stretches, 10 hours a day and before running out the door, I make a parfait or smoothie but my berries are mouldy in two to three days! I wish I found this out earlier but from now on I’m doing this.”
