Hannibal involved in ‘heated altercation’ with Man Utd team-mate in training

The Red Devils’ sorry season ended on Sunday with a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, which Erik ten Hag attended in person.

Hannibal was given his first start in the first team, with the likes of Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard missing through injury.

The Tunisian joined United from Monaco as a 16-year-old in a deal worth up to £10m and there’s high expectations for the midfielder at Old Trafford, particularly with the appointment of Ten Hag.

Hannibal’s spirited substitute performance against Liverpool at Anfield last month – when United lost 4-0 – earned him plaudits from supporters, who had almost forgotten what it was like to see that sort of commitment from a first-team player.

But the overzealous midfielder has been rubbing some of his team-mates up the wrong way in training, with the Daily Mail claiming he was recently involved in a ‘heated altercation’ with Telles.

The left-back made his 50th appearance for United against Palace and he’s been United’s left-back for much of the season, with Luke Shaw suffering numerous injuries.

The incident is said to have occurred earlier this month, at a time when Hannibal has become a regular in first-team training.

Ten Hag is keen to strengthen at full-back, though a right-back is considered a priority over a left-back.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been put up for sale, while Diogo Dalot – who is capable of playing on both sides – is set to stay.
