Hardly Strictly Bluegrass is coming “Back to the Park” in 2022.
The beloved three-day music festival — which was last held as an in-person event in 2019 but offered as a streaming event in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic — is slated to return to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
And, as per usual, admission is free.
The initial lineup, released today, includes Marcus Mumford, Allison Russell, Las Cafeteras, Lucius, Galactic, AJ Lee & Blue Summit, Joy Oladokun, Charley Crockett, Buddy Miller and Dashawn Hickman.
More acts will be announced soon.
“We are thrilled to have old friends return like Galactic and Buddy Miller as well as some first-timers: Marcus Mumford, Joy Oladokun, Lucius, Charley Crockett and more,” says Hardly Strictly Bluegrass executive producer Sheri Sternberg.
“Others, like Allison Russell and Las Cafeteras, have joined us virtually the past two years and we’re delighted to have them join us in Golden Gate Park.”
“We’ve heard about Hardly Strictly over the years and are thrilled to be part of this gift to the city, a beautifully curated musical weekend made free and accessible to its residents in one of the great parks in the world,” said Holly Laessig, Lucius.
The previous in-person Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival, held in 2019, featured such acts as Tanya Tucker, Margo Price, Steve Earle and the Dukes, Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters, the Waterboys, Punch Brothers and the Flatlanders.
The 2020 and 2021 events were digital offerings, featuring performances and other content streamed online.
