Has FAU ever won the NCAA Tournament?

The Florida Atlantic Owls are set to compete in the Final Four on Saturday, Apr. 1. Has FAU ever won the NCAA Tournament?

The 2023 men’s NCAA Tournament began with 68 teams and is now down to four. By Monday, Apr. 3, a national champion will be crowned. But on Saturday, Apr. 1, the Final Four will be taking place at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

One of the four teams competing to hoist the national title are none other than the No. 9 seed Florida Atlantic Owls. They made it this far out of the East region, beating No. 8 Memphis, No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson, No. 4 Tennessee, and No. 3 Kansas State to reach the Final Four. Now they are slated to face the No. 5 San Diego State Aztecs.

Some viewers of the Final Four might be wondering — has Florida Atlantic ever win the entire NCAA Tournament?

Has FAU ever won the NCAA Tournament?

The answer to that question is no. The Owls have never made it to the national championship game. This is actually the first time that FAU has made an appearance in the Final Four!

This is Florida Atlantic’s second appearance in the NCAA Tournament. They previously made it back in the 2001-02 season as a No. 15 seed, but lost to the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide 86-78 in the opening round.

FAU picked up their first NCAA Tournament win at the expense of the Memphis Tigers, picking up the 66-65 win. Sure enough, they picked up their first Sweet 16, Elite Eight, and now a Final Four appearance.

On Saturday, Apr. 1, FAU will face off against San Diego State at 6:09 p.m. ET, airing live on CBS. From there, the winner will face the winner of the No. 5 Miami Hurricanes-No. 4 UConn Huskies game, which will tip off at 8:49 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Will Florida Atlantic clinch their spot in the national championship game? Or will their magical run come to an end on Saturday?
