England rue missed chances on first day of second Test
England suffered another defeat to Australia in what’s proving to be a dismal Ashes series down under.
The tourists are now 2-0 down after two Tests after falling to a 275-run defeat on day five of the day/night Test at Adelaide.
Whilst Jos Buttler offered some slim hopes of England securing an unlikely draw with his 207-ball 26, the reality was England were always fighting an uphill battle after being comprehensively outplayed in the first four days of the game.
It leaves England 2-0 down and needing to win the final three games of the series if they are to reclaim the Ashes – something that seems a remote possibility if the first two matches are anything to go by.
So, what has gone wrong for England?
You can have your say on how England’s Ashes has gone so far – and whether you feel Joe Root’s side are underperforming or not – by taking part in our survey below.
Perhaps you feel team selection is an issue, with the decision to rest Mark Wood for the second Test leaving England with a bowling attack that was very one-note.
You may think it’s the fact that England’s squad isn’t good enough, or that the captaincy has been poor.
Or maybe you feel it’s simply silly errors by players who should be good enough to know better.
We also want to know whether you feel England’s injured players, namely fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Olly Stone, would have made much of a difference to how things are going.
