Channel A’s dating show “Heart Signal 4” has responded to recent allegations against its contestant Kim Ji Min.
On June 10, the show’s production team released a formal statement denying rumors that back when she was still a minor in school, Kim Ji Min used to be a streamer whose broadcasts included sexual content.
While the production team confirmed that one of Kim Ji Min’s streams had been shut down by the platform AfreecaTV because it had been categorized as sexually suggestive content, they explained that it had merely been because of a crop top that her older sister was wearing.
The statement also addressed the screenshots from her past streams that have been circulating online as purported evidence of the allegations, claiming that they are currently being spread with malicious intent.
The production team’s full statement is as follows:
Hello.
This is the production team of Channel A’s “Heart Signal 4.”We are making a statement in order to convey the production team’s position on the issue related to “Heart Signal 4” contestant Kim Ji Min, who is not a celebrity, that is currently gaining steam online.
After checking with [Kim Ji Min] about the truth, we are clearly informing you that it is not true that Kim Ji Min streamed sexual content or partial nudity on AfreecaTV.
The screenshots and broadcast that gave rise to this controversy have been determined to be from Kim Ji Min’s “Study with Me” channel on AfreecaTV, which she used while preparing for her College Scholastic Ability Test back when she was a high school student.
At the time, after Kim Ji Min had finished her entrance exam, she and her older sister held a simple talk live broadcast on the channel in question. However, due to the crop top that her sister was wearing, AfreecaTV classified the broadcast as sexually suggestive content, and the broadcast was immediately shut down. But the screenshots [from that broadcast] are currently being spread with malicious intent.
Kim Ji Min is a non-celebrity contestant who is currently attending college. We ask that you refrain from groundless rumors or speculative reports so that our contestants do not suffer damage from situations that have not been clearly confirmed, such as this controversy.
