The collapse of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk has blown the heavyweight world title picture wide open once again.

IBF, WBO and WBA champion Usyk and WBC king Fury were on collision course to unify all the belts and crown the division’s first undisputed champion in 23 years.

With that fight off, it leaves challengers across the sport eager to take their chance.

Usyk holds three of boxing’s four major world titles along with the revered Ring Magazine belt and has three mandatory challengers from each sanctioning body in Daniel Dubois, Filip Hrgovic and Joe Joyce.

Fury remains in possession of the WBC belt with final eliminators being lined up to determine his next challenger.

With plenty of heavyweights in action in the coming weeks, starting with Anthony Joshua on Saturday, here is how the division’s boxing rankings look ahead of a huge summer.

WBC

Current champion: Tyson Fury

  1. Deontay Wilder
  2. Andy Ruiz
  3. Frank Sanchez
  4. Arslanbek Makhmudov
  5. Anthony Joshua
  6. Dillian Whyte

  8. Zhan Kossobutskiy
  9. Otto Wallin
  10. Joseph Parker
  11. Jared Anderson
  12. Luis Ortiz
  13. Efe Ajagba
  14. Agit Kabayel
  15. Filip Hrgovic

A WBC final eliminator between former champions Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr was officially ordered last November but that fight is still to be agreed.

Despite losing his last two fights, losing his belt to Fury in 2020 and suffering another knockout in their 2021 trilogy fight, Wilder remains the sanctioning body’s no1 ranked fighter.

Dubois suffered a serious knee injury last December but insists he is ready to fight and is almost certain to be Uysk’s next challenger.

WBA

Current ‘super’ champion: Oleksandr Usyk

Current ‘regular’ champion: Daniel Dubois

  1. NOT RATED
  2. Martin Bakole
  3. Deontay Wilder
  4. Anthony Joshua
  5. Lenier Pero
  6. Arslanbek Makhmudov

  10. Lucas Browne
  11. Jarrell Miller

  13. Agit Kabayel
  14. Fabio Wardley
  15. Ivan Dychko

Oleksandr Usyk holds the superior ‘super’ belt with Dubois picking up the ‘regular’ belt last summer.

Last December, the WBA named the Londoner their mandatory challenger and with talks for the Fury fight collapsing last month, the sanctioning body stepped up efforts to make that fight happen, ordering it to take place this summer.

IBF

Current champion: Oleksandr Usyk

  1. Filip Hrgovic
  2. NOT RATED

  10. Otto Wallin
  11. Murat Gassiev

Filip Hrgovic secured his status as the mandatory challenger for the IBF belt after beating Zhilei Zhang on the Usyk vs Joshua undercard in Saudi Arabia in August. The highly-rated Croatian was given a stern test against the Chinese heavyweight but walked away with an unanimious decision win.

In the the rotation system operated by the world title sanctioning bodies, Hrogovic is thought to behind WBA challenger Dubois.

WBO

Current champion: Oleksandr Usyk

Interim champion: Joe Joyce

  1. Andy Ruiz
  2. Frank Sanchez
  3. Otto Wallin
  4. Filip Hrgovic
  5. Anthony Joshua
  6. Deontay Wilder
  7. Joseph Parker
  8. Agit Kabayel

  11. Ali Eren Demirezen
  12. David Adeleye
  13. Zhilei Zhang

  15. Arslanbek Makhmudov

Usyk holds the WBO title with Joe Joyce named ‘interim’ champion following his victory over Joseph Parker last September – effectively guaranteeing him a shot at the outright title held by the Ukrainian.

He is the mandatory challenger for the belt, although it is thought he is behind Dubois [WBA] and Hrgovic [IBF] in the queue.
