Heidi Klum solved summer red carpets with a half-bikini, half-gown look

As Hannah Montana once sang, you get the best of both worlds. Heidi Klum took to Paris Fashion Week in a dress that’s at once a floor-length black gown and a blue side-tie bikini. Take that, Angelina Jolie sticking her leg out!

Finally, a day-to-night look that also takes you from beach-to-gala and yacht-to-restaurant! The long blue ties create a balance in the silhouette, so that the material actually reaches almost the same length on both sides of Klum’s statuesque frame.

Heidi Klum was attending the Jean Paul Gaultier Paris Haute fall-winter 2023–2024 presentation, in—what else?—a John Paul Gaultier dress, which she revealed on Instagram was hand-sewn by the designer himself. She also added that it’s a “vintage” piece from 2017 (technically vintage means at least 40 years old; over 100 years old makes an item antique; Klum’s dress is just…old—but whatever), writing, “JPG I love you ❤️ always being a visionary of love and diversity in beauty. Klum and the designer are close; she was happy to have him on Germany’s Next Top Model, which she hosts.

Hanging out in this exquisite hotel suite in nothing but my perfectly tanned and moisturised skin before I slip on a couture dress I’ve casually had in my closet for six years? Sure. I get what’s appealing about that.

Have to say, this is much cooler and more stylish than the cute but a bit been-there, done-that G-string flash she wore back in April. It’s just so fun and trend-agnostic and looks decently comfortable. Should I sew a sheet onto a bikini? I do have plans to go to Paris. Someday. In my life.
