Work is coming along at the former site of the late Saratoga architect Warren Heid’s office. Tom Sloan, another Saratoga architect, is leading the project to restore the historic John Henry house, which will have space available for meetings.
Cancer CAREpoint’s big Garden Party Fundraiser is back live and in person this Sunday, Aug. 28, after two years as a virtual event. To mark its 10-year anniversary, the party is at Cancer CAREpoint’s offices in the Los Gatos Stanford Cancer Center, Los Gatos Boulevard and Highway 85. The location is appropriate to underscore that the organization has provided 10 years of support to over 10,000 people impacted by cancer. Had a mini-reunion with fellow Saratoga High School alum when I celebrated the 50th anniversary of my first job with ABC Sports by returning to the British Open with former Saratoga High student body secretary Jennifer McLellan, now living in Chicago. By sheer coincidence, we met another alumna on the way: Denise DeSmet, Class of ’79. Saratoga’s Class of ’68 is having its annual reunion Sept 25. Yes, after 54 years, these ex-Falcons like each other enough to flock together each year.

The piano at Blaney Plaza is a hit. Jill Hunter reports, “I’ve seen children dancing while their mother plays, teenagers taking turns playing and people waiting to take their turn at the keys. We had a first sing- and dance-along. It was a fun Friday night for all, including our mayor.”
