Helen Mirren may already have an Academy Award, four BAFTA Awards, three Golden Globes, five Emmys, and one Tony Award—atop a handful of other accolades—but the actor’s latest look at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival proves she deserves (at least) one more for best beauty transformation. And probably another for best Cannes red-carpet look of all time.
The L’Oréal ambassador, who is known for embracing her silver and grey strands, debuted a blazing blue updo at the premiere of her film Jeanne du Barry, and I am now of the firm belief that this is the look that matters (sorry, Met Gala attendees). Not only was her coiffure iconic—and in bold defiance of trivial age-based beauty standards—but served as a theme for the entire show-stopping ensemble.
The 77-year-old sported a baby blue, deep-V-cut, floor-length Del Core gown and pastel blue nail polish that matched her new shade. She completed the look with pink lipstick, diamond jewellery, and sparkling silver Sole Bliss platforms (which are podiatrist-approved!), proving that mermaid-meets-princess vibes are always in vogue…and suitable for all ages. TBH, if I didn’t know any better, I would think my fairy godmother—and/or an IRL mermaid—had just emerged from the French Riviera and found her way to the famed Croisette de Cannes.
The Queen star’s updo was courtesy of L’Oréal products, of course—Mirren has been a brand ambassador since 2014 (peep the #WorthIt fan). The actor’s radiant hair hue was created using L’Oréal Paris Colorista in Pastel Blue, and her sculptural style set with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Hair Spray.
As for the Oscar winner’s gorgeous glam? Mirren wore L’Oréal Paris Infallible Foundation in Golden Beige paired with L’Oréal Paris Infallible Up to 24H Fresh Wear Blush in Fearless Coral, L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Mix and Matte, and L’Oréal Paris Riche Intense Volume Matte Lipstick in Rosy Confident.
