Graeme Souness has urged Harry Kane to push for a move to Bayern Munich, saying he has ‘done his bit’ for Tottenham.

The striker has reportedly agreed personal terms over a move to Germany but will not force an exit away from his boyhood club with one year left on his contract.

Souness – who played abroad with Sampdoria and who calls Spurs his ‘first love’ having began his professional career at White Hart Lane – says the time is right for Kane to depart and insists he will not regret moving to Germany, where he and his family will be happy and he’ll finally win the trophies his talent deserves.

“I had a chance to go to Bayern Munich when I was a Liverpool player,” Souness told White and Jordan on talkSPORT.

“Bayern Munich are the biggest club by far in Germany and it’s a great city to live in, a great football club with tremendous history, they generally win the league every year.

“If I was Harry, I’d go for it, big time. Go for it.

“Germany’s a great country as well, especially Bavaria. So if I was Harry, I’d go for it.

“He’s done his bit for Spurs. He can leave there with his head held up high. No guilt if he was to leave there.

“Harry’s still at his best, although maybe a year from now I’d be seeing something different. The strikers, it is the toughest place to play, hardest place to play.

“But he’d be going to a club where he’d get lots and lots of goals. It would extend his career as well. Playing at a very good standard, not as good as the Premier League, less demanding physically, but he’d get lots of goals.

“He would love his life there, his family would love his life there, and he’d come back with a suitcase full of medals.

“For me, I would go for it. It’s one of the great clubs in world football.”
