Selby is coming into form at the perfect time in the season as the World Championship approaches, winning the WST Classic earlier this month and looking strong at the Tour Championship this week.
O’Sullivan is not at the Tour Championship after a disappointing season in ranking events, but he has won the Hong Kong Masters and Champion of Champions this campaign. When the defending champion gets to Sheffield in April, he will be one of, if not the favourite to lift the trophy again.
After watching Selby in action against Ryan Day on Thursday, Hendry felt the four-time world champion was showing some of his best form again, which is incredibly difficult for anyone to deal with.
In fact, the Scot feels Selby has pretty much no chinks in his armour, which leaves him in a club of just two, alongside the Rocket.
‘I think Mark Selby and Ronnie are unique in that you’re constantly under pressure against these players because in every part of their game…there’s no weaknesses,’ Hendry said on ITV4.
‘Other players can score you to death, these two players have got everything, they’re different to everyone else. Ryan came up against a juggernaut of a player this afternoon.’
Selby and O’Sullivan have won eight of the last 11 World Snooker Championships and many will be tipping either the Jester for a fifth title or the Rocket for an eighth this year.
Hendry says the reigning champion will be at home watching Selby play this week in Hull, and while he would never say so himself, will have concerns about his impressive form.
‘There’s not many players that Ronnie really respects in the game as competitors who can beat him. Selby is definitely one of them,’ said Hendry.
‘Ronnie, he will never admit it, but will be watching this tournament and have one eye on how Selby’s playing because he could be a danger to Ronnie winning the eight. Definitely.’
