Here Are the First Week Projections for Beyoncé‘s ‘Renaissance’

Beyoncé’s new album Renaissance, her first solo effort since 2016’s hugely-successful Lemonade, is projected to make a huge impact on the charts in its first week.

Queen B is set to score her seventh No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with the record, which sees her adopt a more dance-forward sound than she’s typically known for. Renaissance is projected to earn between 275,000 and 315,000 equivalent album units, as Hits Daily Double reported.

The chart performance of Renaissance means that each of Beyoncé’s solo studio albums have reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 so far. In the lead-up to the release of Renaissance, Bey also teased that it was “Act I” and later described it as a “three act project.” Perhaps further No. 1 records are on the horizon, too.

The projection puts Renaissance among the biggest debuts of 2022 so far. Harry Styles’ third studio album, Harry’s House, scored the best opening week of the year with 521,000 equivalent album units. Prior to the arrival of Harry’s House, Kendrick Lamar’s long-awaited double album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers scored the biggest opening week of the year.

Bey’s 2016 solo effort Lemonade also made a huge debut in the charts, bringing in 653,000 equivalent album units. The record went on to be certified triple platinum by the RIAA. Her collaborative album with husband Jay-Z, Everything Is Love, also made a respectable debut with 123,000 equivalent album units, while her The Lion King soundtrack in 2019 brought in 54,000 equivalent album units.
