First, he sanctioned an astonishing £270million transfer spree during the summer transfer window, including £75million on Wesley Fofana and £62million on Marc Cucuerlla.
Then, Boehly sparked outrage amongst the Chelsea faithful when he sacked fan-favourite Thomas Tuchel after a challenging start to the season.
To complete his eventful first few months with the Blues, Boehly then caused a frenzy in English football when he suggested an All-Star North vs South Premier League game.
Boehly is clearly not afraid of putting his money where his mouth it – but how deep are the Chelsea owner’s pockets? Let’s take a look.
What is Todd Boehly’s net worth?
Boehly has a net worth of $5.3billion (£3.6 billion), according to Forbes.
The American businessman co-founded investment company Eldridge Industries in 2015, where he now holds the position of chairman and CEO at the consultancy and finance firm.
Eldridge Industries also has stakes in around 80 finance, media, sports, real estate and technology businesses.
When did Todd Boehly buy Chelsea?
Boehly completed the purchase of Chelsea in May 2022, in a deal believed to be around £4.25billion.
This made the deal the biggest takeover of any sports club in history.
The consortium also includes Clearlake Capital Group, Hansjörg Wyss, founder of the Wyss Foundation, and Mark Walter, co-founder and CEO of Guggenheim Capital.
Boehly and Clearlake have joint control and governance of Chelsea, but Boehly serves as chairman of the club.
Boehly’s acquirement of Chelsea ended Roman Abramovich’s 19-year reign as owner of the West London team, who was forced to sell the club after being sanctioned by the UK government following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Which other sports teams does Boehly own?
Boehly boasts an impressive ownership portfolio of sports teams, including seven-time MLB World Series champions the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The 48 year-old also controls the 17-time NBA champions the Los Angeles Lakers.
Boehly previously attempted by buy London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, and came close to completing a deal for the club in 2019.
And the American has announced his intention to create a ‘multi-club model’ by purchasing other clubs in Europe so Chelsea can send young players out on loan to these teams in order to develop away from the club.
