A themed canine costume competition known as “The Furbabies Dog Pageant” was recently held at the Collingham Memorial Hall in Leeds, England, United Kingdom. The theme for this year’s pageant was Ebenezer Scrooge from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Pet parents and pets from across UK were invited to participate and show off their costumes. The Furbabies Dog Pageant first started in the year 2019.
Every pet parent who participated in this event received a small brief about the event as soon as they arrived at the location. Each furry participant had put on a fancy outfit inspired by the holiday season of the Victorian Era. There were around 90 canines that participated in this pageant. Canines of different sizes and breeds gave tough competition to each other. From tiny Chihuahuas to tall Afghan hounds, they had put on an impressive event for the year.
While speaking to the news agency, the director of Furbabies Pageant, Philip Hodgkins said, “They come and parade up and down the red carpet, in front of some judges, and the judges judge them as they see fit”.
Every furry contestant must dress according to the theme and show off their ensemble in front of the judges.
A cocker spaniel canine named Mia won the first place in this pageant’s Queen Bell category. She won the first place because of her poise and elaborate, red and white frill-covered outfit and also because of the grace she carried it with. The other two winners were a Maltese wearing a blue ball gown and a beagle who was dressed as a Chimney.
