Here’s A Unique African Vacation Deal For The Most Adventurous Travelers

The 22nd edition of the Great Ethiopian Run—the single largest mass-participation event on the African continent—takes place November 20, 2022. More than 40,000 participants from around the world will attempt to cross the finish line of the 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) course through the heart of Addis Ababa. Participants are invited to dance and stop for drinks along the way, further enlivening the streets of the country’s capital on arguably Ethiopia’s most exciting day of the year.

Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest airline and the Run’s sponsor, is offering the Great Ethiopian Run Package in celebration of this singular experience. The all-inclusive weekend itinerary unfolds as follows:

• Day 1 (Saturday, November 19): Upon arrival in the morning at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, you’ll meet your Ethiopian Airlines representative who will escort you to your hotel. You’ll have the option to visit Unity Park, the National Museum, and Trinity Cathedral during the day, followed by a pasta dinner with special guest, Haile Gebrselassie, Olympic gold-medalist in 1996 and 2000 and winner of four World Championship titles.
• Day 2 (Sunday, November 20): Race Day! Run (or walk) the 10-kilometer course through the streets of Addis Ababa alongside world-class athletes, Ethiopian locals, and other international visitors. Following the race, dive into a traditional Ethiopian dinner complete with song and dance.
• Day 3 (Monday, November 21): Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading to the airport for your return flight home.
