Bay Area superstar Sammy Hagar is looking to have some “Crazy Times” this summer.
Of course, he is. What else is new?
This time around, however, he’ll be pursuing that endeavor with his Crazy Times North American summer tour with his supergroup The Circle.
And, yes, there is a local date.
Sammy Hagar and the Circle — featuring bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Vic Johnson — performs Sept. 9 at Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View.
The current list of announced dates is listed below.
The opening act on the tour is George Thorogood & the Destroyers, the group known for such fan favorites as “Who Do You Love,” “Move It On Over,” “Bad to the Bone,” “I Drink Alone” and “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer.”

“A tour this size has been a long time coming and it’s definitely going to be worth the wait,” Hagar says. “The Circle and I are super excited and ready to throw the party of the year with George Thorogood. We’re going to take the music and party to a whole new level — ‘Crazy Times’ is an understatement.”
Sammy Hagar & the Circle set lists typically include selections from Hagar’s solo years, Montrose, Van Halen and the Circle. The band is even known to get the Led (Zeppelin) out, which is especially appropriate given that Bonham is in the band. The shows will likely include such songs as “I Can’t Drive 55,” “Right Now,” “There’s Only One Way To Rock,” “Mas Tequila,” “Why Can’t This Be Love,” “Heavy Metal” and “Your Love is Driving Me Crazy.”
