Former UFC champion Conor McGregor was at the Kaseya Center in Miami for Game 4 of the NBA Finals yesterday. But he may have gone a little overboard with a stunt on the Miami Heat mascot.
At one point, McGregor was invited onto the center of the court where Miami’s mascot Burnie pretended to box him. McGregor hit Burnie with a haymaker that sent the mascot to the ground but then followed it up by hammering the mascot in the face after he was already on the ground.
According to reports, the mascot had to be taken to the emergency room. Fortunately, the man has since been released.
Here’s the video of the incident, which has been going viral since last night. SportsCenter’s tweet alone has 2.2 million views, 6,000 likes and 800 retweets.

Given that it was a preplanned stunt, it seems likely that all of it – even the seemingly excessive punch at the end – was all part of the script.
That said, maybe doing a stunt involving an MMA fighter who sometimes doesn’t seem to know his own strength wasn’t the smartest thing to do with a guy who isn’t trained to take punches.
