Google witnessed a worldwide hike of 317% for the search query of ‘breakup dreams’ in May alone, a rise that experts and analysts are calling ‘exponential’. Besides a 317% rise in ‘breakup dreams,’ the team also witnessed a rise of 112% for the search query ‘ breakup dream meaning.’ So why are people pondering their relationships in their sleep and what does it say about the state of their relationship?
Summer is coming and as well as ushering in Whispering Angel by the bucket load, we’re also welcoming in new romances, apparently. The springtime and early summer months are the beginning of the uncuffing season, i.e. a time when most immature relationships that can’t test the hardships of time come to an end.
The cold months of the year are known to be the cuffing season when single people who are not ready for long-term relationships settle for a committed relationship that lasts only for the season. The uncuffing season is exactly the opposite of the cuffing season, when people are getting out and about in the warmer climes and are ready to be single again and search for new love, according to the team of ThePleasantDream (a dream interpretation website).
According to Dr. Nereida Gonzalez-Berrios, MD, reviewer and certified psychiatrist of ThePleasantDream, dreams reflect one’s thoughts, emotions, actions, and significant events in one’s life. So why exactly are people dreaming of breaking up with their ex? She cited these five possible reasons:
- Due to your growing insecurities about your partner
- It could indicate a desire for more independence in your daily life
- If your partner is dishonest, the idea of them leaving you for someone else may be heavy on your mind
- You are dealing with old family issues and comparing them with your relationship with your partner
- You feel unsatisfied about your relationship with your partner
Ah, dreams. Sigmund Freud described them as the royal road to the unconscious and suggested that by taking the time to study them, we could uncover hidden and unconscious desires… so maybe it’s time to reevaluate your current situ?
