Deion Sanders inked a deal to coach the University of Colorado Buffaloes mere weeks ago, but the Pro Football Hall of Famer is already making himself at home in Boulder, one meal at a time.
In a recent series of videos posted on Barstool Colorado’s Twitter, Coach Prime has been reviewing local restaurants and grading them on elements such as hospitality, taste and the warm welcomes he receives along the way. (We’re happy to see he’s spending that $29.5 million paycheck at independently-owned establishments here.)
Here are three places Sanders has dined so far, plus some recommendations on where he should eat next.
The Buff Restaurant
Sanders’ grade: A
“Hospitality, unbelievable. The waitresses, the waiters were on point,” Sanders said in his review. “The service, they brought the food out immediately. Now the chicken that my son ordered, he said it needed a little more seasoning. You know, we’re from the South. But my food – I ordered egg whites, steak – great.”
Try The Kitchen American Bistro next, coach. Locals love The Kitchen for its farm-to-table food, especially sweet brunch bites like the brioche doughnuts and cruffins and savory items like the chilaquiles. Steak and eggs are also on the menu here – a cast iron skirt steak comes with eggs and ranchero sauce. The restaurant has locations in both Boulder and Denver.

Le Peep
Sanders’ grade: A
“The service was truly impeccable,” Sanders said. “I kinda kept it safe. I ordered this spinach scramble, which was very good. I liked everything… the portions are huge. You give ‘em a huge portion.”
Try Sputnik next, coach. If a trip to the Mile High City is in the cards, this divey joint is a must for its vegan-friendly and healthful menu options, specifically during brunch hours. Plates like the Vegan Power (quinoa cakes, potatoes, veggies, greens, avocado, roasted garlic sauce) are so flavorful, diners don’t feel like they’re sacrificing meat and dairy. Though bacon and cheese are available add-ons.
