Jason Momoa is well-known amongst comic book fans as Aquaman, but these days he’s embracing a new role – Vodka Man.
In January, the actor released an original vodka called Meili with his business partner Blaine Halvorson, also the creator of MadeWorn clothing. The duo is currently touring the country to promote the spirit with plans to stop in the Denver suburbs at the end of October.
Momoa and Halvorson will come to two liquor stores in Parker and Wheat Ridge to sign bottles of Meili vodka and pose for photos with fans. The spirit retails for $24.99 and is widely available at liquor stores throughout Colorado.
On Oct. 25, locals can catch Momoa at Bevy’s (9749 S. Parker Rd., Parker) from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. On Oct 26, he’ll be at Applejack Wine and Spirits (3320 Youngfield St., Wheat Ridge) from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Meili was created to compete with the likes of Tito’s, but crafted to taste better.
“To us, vodka was broken,” Halvorson told the publication. “We didn’t like the vodka that was out there. It was like rubbing alcohol. … Literally, made only for mixing with something else.”
The spirit is made with a “harmonious marriage of native and seasonal grains brings a bright, smooth, and effortless flavor profile,” per the website. The company distills it in Montana, Halvorson’s home state. The website says Meili is intended to be enjoyed neat.
Momoa isn’t the only celebrity to swing through the Front Range this year while sipping an original spirit. In March, “Breaking Bad” actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul visited Denver to sign bottles of their Dos Hombres mezcal and sling cocktails at local mezcalerias.
