You may remember the 1970 film The Railway Children starring Jenny Agutter, Dinah Sheridan, and Bernard Cribbins. Well, this month a sequel drops to the British classic, and it’s just as plucky and wholesome as the original – trust me!
The Railway Children Return is set around 40 years on from the first film during the second World War. The cast is pretty amazing — here’s who plays who and where you might recognise them from!

You might know Jenny as one of the most recognisable aspects of The Railway Children franchise. She reprises her role from the original movie in this film, but this time, Bobbie is a grandmother. … She’s still as brave and wise as ever though!
Where you know Jenny from: Logan’s Run, An American Werewolf in London, Equus, The Avengers, and Call the Midwife, of course!

Sheridan has had a lot of iconic roles, and in The Railway Children Return, she plays a mother and headteacher at a local school. Together with her own mum, Bobbie, Annie takes in three evacuees and tries to keep her newly extended family happy during the difficult war years.
Where you know Sheridan from: Gavin & Stacey, Jonathan Creek, Cilla, Mrs Biggs, The Moorside, Funny Girl (theatre), and Legally Blonde (theatre).
