The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom brings back series villain Ganondorf, and he will be voiced by none other than prolific voice actor and Critical Role Dungeon Master Matthew Mercer.
Mercer said on Twitter that it is an “immense honor” to play Ganondorf, adding that he hopes to be able to do the character justice in the highly anticipated sequel to Breath of the Wild.
Mercer is known for voicing Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil 6, Deadshot in Injustice 2, and Cole Cassidy in Overwatch, among other characters. Mercer, 40, is also a boss at Critical Role Productions.
Tears of the Kingdom releases on May 12 for Switch, which is just a few weeks away now, but the wait is agonizing for fans who really loved the newest trailer and want to play right now. While you wait, why not have a look at GameSpot’s in-depth investigation into how big Ganondorf is.
Tears of the Kingdom will be the first Nintendo-published game to retail for $70. Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser explained in an interview that the price will be justified when fans discover how “deeply immersive” this Zelda adventure is.
Other versions of the game include a Japanese collector’s edition that comes with some really nice cutlery, and if you’d like to save some cash, you can grab Tears of the Kingdom through Nintendo’s Switch game voucher promotion that allows you to get two games for $100.
