High on Life gets delayed until mid December

Squanch Games’ High on Life (you know, the weird one with the talking gun) has been delayed until December. It was originally scheduled for October, but, as we have since learned, that’s when Modern Warfare II comes out. These things happen. The roughly six-week delay will allow the team to clear out some bugs and polish the game’s sentient weapons. It’ll now arrive on December 13.

The news was announced yesterday on the game’s official Twitter account. “We have good news and bad news,” the message read. “Feel free to choose the option you’d prefer to read first; we won’t meddle with your free will.” Naturally, the good news was that the game is still heading our way this year. We sadly can’t say the same for everything else that recently got pushed to 2023. It’s been that kind of summer, folks.

High On Life delayed, but not that long

For those who need a refresher, High On Life is coming to us from the twisted mind of Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland. The space-faring first-person shooter was first revealed in June, showing off its Roiland-esque sense of humor, which means there’ll be plenty of dark jokes and probably some amount of toilet banter. And yes, I am looking forward to it. Delays are temporary, but fart jokes are eternal.

“I wanted to make games that I wanted to play, and that was the spark that sort of lit the fire of Squanch Games,” said Justin Roiland following the game’s reveal. “Then we shipped Trover, we shipped Accounting+, and now we’re on this absolute dream game that we were kind of building towards this whole time.”

High On Life will launch on December 13 for Steam and the Epic Games Store. It’ll also arrive on PC Game Pass as a day one launch game.
