MONTEREY – The 2022 Leon Panetta Lecture Series will have a slew of notables lined up to participate including Hillary Clinton, Karl Rove, James Carville and Bill Bradley to name a few that will be discussing topics associated with this year’s theme, “The 2022 Midterm Elections and the Future of Our Democracy.”
The 25th annual lecture series will take place via live webinar for another season as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. The full line-up of speakers is confirmed and subscriptions are available for purchase.
“In extraordinary times like these with the institutions of our democracy being tested, the ultimate check and balance is ‘We the People’ and our right to vote,” said Institute Chairman Leon Panetta in a press release announcing the lineup. “Will the Biden Administration be able to restore the trust of the American people in the ability of Democrats to govern? Can Republicans heal their divisions, unite behind a vision of the future or be tied to past claims of ‘stolen elections’ by Donald Trump? Have the fiscal and economic decisions used to combat the pandemic left us with an unpredictable economic future? How can we restore the American people’s faith in our election process? How can America lead the world if it cannot lead itself? More than ever, we must discuss and debate the future of our democracy.”
Each of the four lectures is scheduled on a Monday for the next few months from 6-7:30 p.m., each session.
